PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOPS
From 2 hours to multi-day sessions; sunrise to night sky photography; and private 1:1 lessons, we combine in-classroom instruction at our Buxton Home Studio with individualized fieldwork on Hatteras and Ocracoke Islands to create learning opportunities for photographers of all skill levels.
Cape Hatteras is the perfect location to unlock the mysteries of night photography. Hatteras Island sits 30+ miles from mainland North Carolina, and it is cradled by over 60 miles of National Park. Much of the access to the park is away from commercial and residential development, which means there is little to no light pollution. That means that the availability of the night sky can be limitless!
This workshop is designed to teach students the skills and techniques to photograph the night sky. Do you want to learn how to capture pinpoint stars, paint with light, and photograph star trails? Have you ever wondered how best to photograph the Milky Way? If so, then this is the workshop for you!
The workshop will begin at our Home Studio in Buxton, located just 2 miles from the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse. We will study night photography techniques that we will use when we are out in the field. Then, we’ll spend several hours in various locations (of course, one of those will include the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse) shooting “light in the dark.”
Weather and atmospheric conditions vary throughout the year, making some days “better” for night photography than others. However, whatever the conditions, students will leave the workshop with a confident grasp of the techniques and principles of night photography.
Tuition: $199 (one night) $299 (two-nights)
This 4-hour course is designed to dive deep into composition, shutter speed, aperture, ISO and shooting in manual. Have you ever wanted to learn how to get those great action shots without everything being blurry and out of focus? Have you wanted to figure out how to create beautiful silhouettes with color that pop or understand depth of field? You’ll learn those skills during this course. We will also cover post-production: everything from optimal file storage, color correction, enhanced editing, and file sizing and exporting. This class utilizes Adobe Creative Cloud Lightroom CC and Photoshop software.

Thanks again for a great workshop and the opportunity to get out and see the Frisco pier before gone. Even though it was freezing it was so awesome to be out there for the first time and right before it is gone.
